Detroit Jewish Community Honors Israel’s Consul General Tesher

Israel’s retiring Consul General for the United States Middle Western States, David S. Tesher, who assumes the post of Ambassador of his country to Australia in January, was honored by the Detroit Jewish community at a farewell gathering held at the Jewish Center, under the auspices of the Jewish Community Council and the Zionist Council.

The gathering was attended by representatives of more than 30 Zionist and communal organizations. Dr. Leon Fram, president of the Zionist Council, presided, and greetings were extended to the guest of honor by U.S. Attorney Lawrence Gubow and Philip Slomovitz, editor and publisher of the Jewish News of Detroit. An inscribed scrolls, expressing the affectionate sentiments of Detroit Jewry for the services rendered by the retiring Consul General to Jews in the Middle West, was presented to Mr. Tesher.
