Israel Rogosin, New York industrialist and prominent Jewish philanthropist, today gave $500, 000 to Deborah Hospital, the free non-sectarian medical center for chest diseases in Brown Mills, N.J. Mr. Rogosin is founder of Rogosin Industries in Israel. He presented a token check for his gift at a press conference in his office this morning.
Mr. Rogosin’s gift will be used to support and expand the services and facilities of the 143-bed hospital which specializes in the treatment of tuberculosis and in corrective surgery for operable heart disease, operable lung cancer, and other chest disorders. It is the only national hospital of its kind in the East. All its services are completely free.
Last year, the hospital cared for 674 patients, of whom about 400 were from the New York area. Patients also come to the hospital from many other parts of the United States and from foreign countries. They are admitted solely on the basis of need. The hospital is entirely dependent on voluntary contributions from the general public for its maintenance and development.
