A demand that the Moroccan Government suppress rabbinical tribunals in the country was made today by Allal el Fassi, president of the opposition Istiqlal party, in the party journal.

The political leader asserted that rabbinical tribunals have been dissolved in Tunisia. He called such tribunals in Morocco “products of colonialism” and charged they were improperly constituted. The fact is that the tribunals were given official registration in March 1957, with competence affecting personal status and succession of Moroccan Jews.
