Advance gifts to the 1963 Jewish Federation campaign of 1963, which is seeking $2,500,000 topped the $900,000 mark, it was reported at the drive kickoff dinner. The $2,500,000 goal is about 30 percent more than was raised in 1962, according to Marshall H. Kuhn and John H. Steinhart, the co-chairmen for the drive.

The two officials noted that, in addition to the emergency overseas needs created by a continuing heavy influx of Jewish migrants into Israel and the mass transfer of North African Jews to France, local agencies of the Jewish community also were faced with growing demands by a steadily growing local Jewish population.
