The contributions of the South African Jewish community to the welfare and progress of the nation were lauded last night by C.F.Odell, South Africa’s Deputy Secretary for Social Welfare, and J.F. Oberholzer, the city’s new mayor. The officials spoke at the 70th anniversary banquet of the Jewish Women’s Benevolent Society, one of South African Jewry’s leading welfare organizations. The banquet was held in City Hall.
