The will of the late President Izhak Ben-Evi, which was opened here today, directs that royalties from his published works be given to charity, mostly for the care of children. The will also requested that his extensive library never be sold but should be made available to students and researchers in a perpetual trust.
In his will, which was dated December 1961, Mr. Ben-Zvi recommended that his lifelong friend, Eliahu Elath, former Ambassador to Washington and currently president of the Hebrew University, succeed him as head of the Ben-Zvi Institute which is devoted to research on various Jewish communities.
The late President also expressed the wish in the will that his son Amram remain steadfast in traditional observance and raise his children in that spirit. A codicil to the will dated less than two weeks before his death directs that burial arrangements provide for a grave alongside his own for Mrs. Ben-Zvi in Jerusalem’s Har. Hamenuchot cemetery.
