The Association of Liberal Students of West Germany urged Theodor Oberlaender, former West German Minister for Refugee Affairs, to resign his new seat in the Bundestag.

The request was made in an open letter in which the students said that the reasons leading to his forced resignation from the West German Cabinet in 1960 had not been resolved. Oberlaender was accused of having been involved with the slaughter of the Jews in the Lvov ghetto during the war.

The former Cabinet Minister had made an unsuccessful bid for the Bundestag. Subsequently he was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the death of a Christian Democratic deputy from Lower Saxony. His appearance in the Bundestag as a Lower Saxony deputy on May 15 attracted no attention from other deputies.
