Funeral Services Today for Orvil E. Dryfoos; Kennedy Sends Condolence

Funeral services will be held here at Temple Emanu-El tomorrow for the late Orvil E. Dryfoos, president and publisher of the New York Times, who died this weekend at the age of 50. He was a member of that Reform congregation. He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Baron de Hirsch Fund.

Mr. Dryfoos, who was married to the eldest child of Arthur Hays Sulzberger, became president of the Times in 1957 and took over the duties of publisher in 1961. His wife is a grandchild of the late Adolph S. Ochs, who had been publisher of the Times from 1896 until his death in 1935.

Statements of condolence over Mr. Dryfoos’ death were made today by President Kennedy, Mayor Robert F. Wagner, former Sen. Herbert H. Lehman, Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Rabbi Julius Mark, spiritual leader of Temple Emanu-El, Sen. Jacob K. Javits, and many other outstanding personalities in Jewish and other American affairs.
