The Jewish Colonization Association reported today that it had decided to assume a larger share of the responsibility it shared with British, French and American Jewish welfare agencies for housing for the influx of Algerian Jews now residing in France.

The decision was one of several taken at a meeting of the Administrative Council of the JCA in Paris on May 10, the JCA said. The Council expressed satisfaction with the “appreciable results” being achieved through the housing fund which was set up in 1962 in cooperation with the Central British Fund, the Fonds Social Juif Unifie and the Joint Distribution Committee.

Noting that a heavy burden had been imposed on the ORT vocational training program in France by the huge inflow of North African Jewish refugees, the Council voted a special contribution for that ORT program.
