Albert B. Gross, a prominent Jewish communal leader and philanthropist, died here yesterday on his 94th birthday. He was one of the founders of the United Jewish Appeal.
Born in Hungary, Mr. Gross came to the United States at the age of 15 and subsequently became a leader in the fur industry in this country. His philanthropies included the establishment of a scholarship fund through the Albert B. Gross Foundation at the Ch’San Sofer Yeshiva in New York. The fund helped to subsidize the religious and secular education of many young men from South America and Europe.
