More Jewish organizations today announced backing of the August 28 March on Washington in support of the Administration’s proposed civil rights legislation.

The National Council of Jewish Women expressed its support of the march and called on Government leaders and Congress “to.heed the rising demand for equal opportunity for all American citizens. ” The New York Board of Rabbis said that its president, Rabbi Israel Mowshowitz, would head a large delegation of officers and leaders “to demonstrate the New York Board’s deep concern for the President’s civil rights program. ” The Board includes Orthodox, Conservative and Reform rabbis.

Rabbi Joachim Prinz, president of the American Jewish Congress and one of the 10 founding chairmen of the march, said members of the organization’s Physicians chapter would serve as volunteer doctors on the march. He indicated that six to eight doctors would be among the anticipated 1, 500 members of the organization who will be among the marchers. The organization has chartered buses from New York, Boston, Philadelphia and other eastern cities to bring members to Washington.
