Harry Bronfman, Jewish community leader and philanthropist, died here today at the age of 77 after a long illness. At the time of his death, he was chairman of the board of Kensington Industries Inc., and director of production and construction, Distillers Corporation-Seagrams, Ltd.
A founder of the Canadian Jewish Congress, he was honorary president and life governor of the YM-YWHA of Canada. Mr. Bronfman was a brother of Samual Bronfman, vice-president of the World Jewish Congress and chairman of the organization’s North American Executive.
A tribute to the late Mr. Bronfman was paid by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, president of the World Jewish Congress. Mr. Bronfman is survived by a wife, son, daughter, three brothers and four sisters.
