A three-day conference on church and state, attended by representatives of some 30 national Jewish organizations and Jewish councils in 50 cities throughout the United States opened here last night. The conference is sponsored jointly by the National Community Relations Advisory Council and the Synagogue Council of America.
The two sponsoring organizations are coordinating bodies respectively for national and local Jewish agencies that seek to further civil rights and for national Jewish congregational and rabbinic bodies. The conference is termed by the sponsoring organizations an “exploratory” one which will not seek to formulate policies, which are the province of the organizations themselves.
