British Foreign Secretary R. A. Butler declared today that the British Government did not intend to reconsider an earlier decision against approval of the United Nations pact against genocide.
The Foreign Secretary disclosed this in reply to an inquiry from Sir Barnett Janner, Member of Parliament and Jewish leader. Sir Barnett had asked whether, in view of the new evidence disclosed in current Nazi war crimes trials of the genocide policy of Hitler’s regime, the British Government would reconsider its decision against adhering to the convention against mass murder.
