TEL AVIV (Apr. 5)
Two German sailors, who broke into a home in Haifa on Passover Eve with shouts of “Heil Hitler,” were allowed to return to their ship yesterday after being arrested, and sentenced to fines of $500 each and a week in jail.
Dieter Kielbase of Lubeck, and Manfred Foyerdirks of Hameln, had their fines paid by the agent of the ship, the Annemarie Heiger, which sailed later yesterday. The sailors had been in jail since the incident last Friday. They were convicted of entering the home and demanding a drink. When they were refused, they shouted anti-Jewish insults until they were arrested. They told the court they thought the house was a bar.
