The third round of Israel’s negotiations for a satisfactory trade agreement with the European Economic Community is due to get underway tomorrow, when the Israeli delegation, headed by Israel’s Ambassador to Brussels Amiel Najar, will begin talks with a delegation representing the European Common Market as well as with representatives of the six member nations.

Other members of the Israeli delegation include Y, Gal-ed, deputy director general of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; David Golan, director of the foreign exchange department of the Ministry; Avraham Toffer, representing the Ministry of Agriculture; Yitzhak Minerbi, deputy head of Israel’s mission to the EEC; and Mordechai Paran, agricultural counsellor to the mission. The EEC delegation is headed by Axel Herbst, general director of foreign relations for the EEC.

In the current round of talks, the Israeli delegation will present the Israel Government reply to the latest proposals which were put forward by the EEC last month. The proposals consisted of a suspension of the EEC regulation providing for a common external tariff of 20 per cent and the reduction in tariffs on some 20 items from a list of 37 previously presented by Israel.
