Australian Students Protest Against Anti-semitism in Soviet Union

A resolution protesting the infringement of the religious, cultural and economic rights of the Jews of the Soviet Union was adopted here today at a protest meeting called by the student representative council at Monash University here. The resolution called on all Australian university students and representative councils to take action in protest against anti-Jewish discriminations and anti-Semitism in the Soviet Union.

The resolution was adopted after an address by Isi Leibler on behalf of the Executive Council of Australian Jewry. Rabbi Hermann Saenger, a Liberal spiritual leader here, this weekend protested the reproductions of the anti-Semitic cartoons from the Ukrainian Soviet book, “Judaism Without Embellishment,” which were published in the Australian press. Rabbi Saeger charged that the reproductions were conducive to the spread of anti-Semitism.
