Two Swiss nationals, who admitted stealing secret documents from their employer, were sentenced here yesterday on charges of spying for Israel against Egypt.
The Zurich District Court convicted Wilhelm Naef, 33, a mechanic, and Johann Neeser, 38, a clerk, who were employed by the Egyptian-controlled Motoren Turbinen Pumpen A.G. of Zurich, of copying the documents and turning them over to Israel. They were also convicted of economic espionage.
Naef received a three-month jail sentence and Neeser five months. The sentences were suspended for four years and neither defendant will have to serve his term if he is not convicted of another crime. Each was also fined $70.
