Dr. Julius M. Rogoff, a renowned medical researcher and discoverer of interrenalin, the life-sustaining hormone used in the treatment of Addison’s disease, last night announced a gift of $1, 000,000 to Brandeis University to further the development of the University’s science programs.
The gift, in addition to assuring greater support for the science programs, brings Brandeis to within $1, 000, 000 of its goal set by the Ford Foundation, requiring the University to raise $18, 000,000 to qualify for a Foundation grant of $6, 000, 000.
Dr. Rogoff, who announced the gift at the University’s annual commencement banquet, said that the $1, 000, 000 would be contributed through the Rogoff Foundation, of which he is president, Dr. Rogoff is a pioneer in modern medicine and is the author of more than 175 major articles on original research in experimental medicine, notably in endocrinology, physiology and pathology.
