Two Outstanding Chicago Jews to Lead $4,886,867 Federation Campaign

Two outstanding Chicagoans have accepted leadership in the Jewish Federation’s 1964 campaign for $4,886,867, it was announced here today by Joseph L, Gidwitz, president of the Federation.

A.N. Pritzker, Chicago attorney and industrialist, has accepted the chairmanship of the campaign to raise $2,483,767 in direct contributions to balance Federation’s operating costs and Dr. S.S. Hollender will lead the campaign to secure $2,403,100 to complete the Jewish Federation’s $5,000,000 United Building Fund.

Mr. Pritzker reported that after all funds are received by the Jewish Federation–$1,415,000 from the Combined Jewish Appeal, $1,645,128 from the Community Fund, $715,000 from investment income and $20,000 from miscellaneous sources–Federation will still need $2,483,767 in direct contributions.

Dr. S.S. Hollender, past president of the Jewish Federation and chairman of the United Building Fund Drive, said today: “Since 1945 the building program of the Jewish Federation has totaled more than $31,000,000 of which Federation itself has provided nearly $21,500,000. The $2,403,100 which we are seeking is to complete our commitments on buildings now under construction or already completed for Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center, Mount Sinai Hospital and Medical Center, Jewish Children’s Bureau, Drexel Home, Jewish Home for Aged, Jewish Community Centers, Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital.” The campaign runs until December 31.
