U.S. Names Jewish Social Worker to Advise Israel on Rehabilitation

Dr. William Gellman, executive director of the Jewish Vocational Service of Chicago, a Jewish Federation agency, has been named by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare to advise Israel on a multi-phase project for the handicapped. He is a leading authority in the field of rehabilitation. Dr. Gellman will arrive in Israel on July 30 and will stay until mid-September.

Dr. Gellman will advise Israel’s Ministry of Labor and its Vocational Rehabilitation Council in the field of rehabilitation, including coordination of rehabilitation activities carried out by the various agencies and institutions, adoption of existing services for efficient use by the disabled who need them, initiation of pilot and demonstration projects, advancement and improvement of rehabilitation methods and techniques, and research. He will also conduct seminars in vocational rehabilitation for government workers with supervisory responsibilities.
