The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will open hearings on August 10 on Senate resolution 204, co-sponsored by 63 senators, providing for a condemnation of Soviet anti-Semitism. Sen. Abraham Ribicoff, Connecticut Democrat, original sponsor of the measure, will testify before the committee.
Adoption of the resolution is supported by the American Conference on Soviet Jewry, representing 24 organizations and the major portion of American Jewry. If the resolution is approved by the committee, it will go to the full Senate for final action. Sen. Ribicoff will also testify before the platform committee of the forthcoming Democratic National Convention in support of a strong plank against Soviet anti-Semitism. The hearings will be held in Washington prior to the convention, which will be held this month.
