TEL AVIV (Sep. 24)
General Yitzhak Rabin, Israel’s Chief of Staff, reporting last night on his talks with French military officials and armament producers, said it was “only natural” that his first visit abroad should be to France in view of France’s “special place” among friendly nations. France has been Israel’s chief supplier of advanced jet war planes and other weapons.
He said he found “understanding and friendship” among the officials with whom he met for several days of talks and with whom he discussed various military developments. He said he had watched a number of military “objects” which he said might interest Israel. He was accompanied by Israel Air Force Commander Ezer Weizmann.
