A hope that the situation of Russian Jewry would be ameliorated by the new Soviet Government regime was expressed here today by Prime Minister Levi Eshkol.
Addressing the Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, Mr. Eshkol said he hoped the new leaders of the Soviet Union would find a way to restore equality to the Jews of the USSR “as individuals and as a group. ” He said he also hoped that the new Russian leadership “would respond to the demands by world Jewry to permit Russian Jews to be reunited with their families abroad.”
