NEW YORK (Nov. 18)
James N. Rosenberg, honorary chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, and distinguished leader in Jewish and communal affairs, will celebrate his 90th birthday this Friday. The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, of which he has been a member for 63 years, today sent a letter to his friends suggesting public recognition of this event.
The letter, signed by four eminent lawyers–Arthur H. Dean, Orison S. Marden, John J. McCloy and Samuel I. Rosenman–urges members to pay tribute to Mr. Rosenberg on the occasion of his birthday by contributing to the Hammarskjold Forums of the Bar Association, which were established by him after the death of Dag Hammarskjold, the late United Nations Secretary-General. The initial financing of the Forums to serve the cause of world peace through law was contributed by Mr. Rosenberg, and the first Forum was inaugurated by Ambassador Adlai E. Stevenson in 1962.
