West Berlin Arrests Four for Killing 6,500 Jews and Gypsies

The West Berlin Prosecutor’s Office announced here today that four former SS officers who served in Nazi killer commando groups, in German-occupied Europe, have been arrested and charged with complicity in the murder of at least 6,500 Russian Jews and Gypsies. The men were identified as: Wilhelm Wiebens, 58; Oswald Schafer, 56; Karl Rath, 55; and Heinz Tangerman, 52. They are all employed in West German industry.
