Two bomb explosions caused severe damage early this morning at Kfar Hess, an Israeli settlement nearly five miles from the Jordanian border. Israeli border patrol and army units traced the steps of the persons who had placed the explosives to the Jordanian frontier.
The terrorists had placed the explosives at 2 a.m. today under the settlement’s silo and near the balcony of a home where the residents were asleep. The silo was badly damaged, while plaster and splinters from the damaged home rained down on some of the people asleep inside, including a young boy in a room next to the balcony. Miraculously, no one was injured.
The attack is believed to have been perpetrated by members of the Fatah, a terrorist organization set up recently by the so-called Palestinian army, whose members infiltrate Israel and carry out hit-run depredations. There have been several acts of sabotage recently, believed to have been carried out by members of the Fatah, along the Lebanese and Syrian borders, but this is the first presumed Fatah attack near Jordan. The members of Fatah are evidently being given shelter by the Arab governments which, however, disclaim all official responsibility for their acts.
