Jordan has requested modern arms from the United States as an outright gift and Saudi Arabia has submitted a request to Washington for modern jet fighters, it was reported here today. The request submitted by Jordan includes modern tanks of the same type presumably shipped by West Germany to Israel.
Another report here stated that Israel has informed the United States that Egypt recently obtained a vast arsenal from the Soviet Union, including three submarines, two destroyers, four Komar missile boats, 12 MI-6 heavy helicopters, some Tupolev-16B medium-range bombers, Y-54 tanks, armored personnel carriers, AN-12 transport planes, and torpedo patrol boats.
