Herman L. Kaplow, who joined the staff of the Jewish Federation of St. Louis in 1944 and served the last 18 years as chief administrative officer, this week announced his resignation.

Mr. Kaplow advised the board of directors of his desire to resign. In a letter to Alfred Fleishman, president of the Federation, he said that he would like to devote the balance of his professional career to “teaching, training or similar activity where my years of experience may be of help to the young people coming into the profession or to some of the newer developments in the field of social welfare.”

No successor has been named but Fleishman has appointed a committee to select a new executive director for the Federation. Fleishman has invited Dr. Michael Karl, secretary of the Federation, to serve as chairman of the Selections Committee, Serving with Dr. Karl will be Saul Dubinsky, Ted Schweich and Milton Frank, Kaplow said that he hoped the change could be made in the near future and at a time that would be mutually satisfactory to the board and to him.
