City School in Guatemala Named ‘state of Israel’; Ceremonies Held

An imposing new school building was named “State of Israel” school in ceremonies here today attended by government officials, Israel Ambassador Shmuel Kapel and other diplomatic representatives.

Education Minister Rolando Chinchilla Aguilar expressed the hope that the school would be “a link for greater friendship and comprehension between our two peoples.” Messages of congratulations were read from Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, and Zalman Aranne, Israel’s Education Minister.

The Israel Ambassador said: “We are proud that this new school has been named for the State of Israel, one of the greatest tributes which could be rendered to the unbreakable friendship existing between our two countries.” The event was widely publicized by the local radio and press.
