The New York State Assembly adopted by a 125 to nine vote here yesterday a Fair Sabbath bill which would permit communities outside New York City to pass ordinances allowing those who keep their businesses closed on a Sabbath other than Sunday, to do business on Sunday.

Last year, the State Legislature adopted similar legislation which applied only to New York City. The current bill extending this legislation on a statewide basis, now goes to the State Senate for action.
