Chief of Staff and Golda Meir Report to Israel Cabinet

Israel’s Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin reported to the Cabinet here yesterday that the military action by the Israeli armed forces against Jordan during the weekend was intended as a warning to that country whose territory was used by the Arab infiltrators responsible for the recent bombing of houses in Israeli settlements.

In his report, Gen. Rabin stressed that the Israeli units which carried out the operation had fully observed orders to avoid human casualties. The Cabinet voiced appreciation for the way in which the operation has been carried cut by the Israeli forces. Foreign Minister Golda Meir reported to the Cabinet on the diplomatic steps taken by the Israeli Government in connection with the incidents.
