The Cabinet yesterday decided to coopt Moshe Carmel, Achdut Avoda member of the Knesset, to serve as Minister of Transport, in place of Israel Bar-Yehuda who died earlier this month. Mr. Carmel served in the same capacity from 1955 to 1959.

At the same Cabinet meeting, Premier Levi Eshkol announced that Chaim Zadok, Minister of Commerce and Industry, would take over the Development Ministry portfolio formerly held by Yosef Almogi, who resigned over the Mapai split between Premier Eshkol and former Premier David Ben-Gurion. The Housing Ministry portfolio which was also held by Mr. Almogi, will be taken over by the Premier, Mr. Eshkol said.
