Plane to Bring Remains of Leavitt; Funeral Service at Free Synagogue

The remains of Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, who died yesterday in Geneva, Switzerland, after attending a meeting of the Conference of Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, will be brought here by plane from Geneva on Thursday. The funeral services here will take place on Friday, 12:30 o’clock at the Free Synagogue.

Messages of condolence continued to peer into the JDC headquarters here today from Jewish organization and leading personalities from all parts of the world. They included: The World Zionist Organization, the Jewish Agency for Israel, Jerusalem, the Jewish Agency for Israel, Inc., the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany, the Israel Bond Organization, the B’nai B’rith, United Hias Service, the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, the New York Association for New Americans.

Also, the American Council of Voluntary agencies, The Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, the American ORT, the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization, the Committee for Jewish Claims on Austria, the American Friends of the Hebrew University, the National Jewish Welfare Board, the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies of New York, and many others.
