Rabbi Meir Grunwald, the Tetcher Rebbe, died here of a heart attack at the age of 56 on the eve of Rosh Hashanah.
He settled in Toronto after World War II and established the Shlomei Emunei Yisroel Yeshiva which recently moved from downtown Toronto to a new building in the suburbs. A native of Hungary, he was deported by the Nazis to occupied Byelorussia to do forced labor.
