Max Bressler, who served as president of the Jewish National Fund of America for the past two years, was reelected to serve as president until midsummer 1966, it was announced today. Named to succeed him was Herman L. Weisman, New York attorney and communal leader. It was at Mr. Bressler’s request that the new term was shortened out of consideration for the state of his health.
Mr. Bressler will lead the JNF Pilgrimage to Israel for the dedication of the John F. Kennedy Memorial near Jerusalem, which he conceived and planned and which is scheduled to take place on the 4th of July, 1966. It is expected that thousands will participate, including important American personalities, government leaders, and members of the Kennedy family. Mr. Bressler, during his new term of office, will also bring to completion several important projects initiated by him during his administration.
Elected with Mr. Bressler and Mr. Weisman were: Dr. Israel Goldstein, Dr. Harris J. Levine, Albert Schiff, as honorary presidents; Miss Julliet N. Benjamin, Harold W. Carmely, Mrs. Maurice Plesser, Leon Rubinstein, as vice-presidents; Mendel N. Fisher, honorary secretary; Mrs. Harry P. Fierst, secretary; Jacob Goodman, treasurer; Mrs. Clara Leff and Jesee Eisen, associate treasurers; and Isidore Epstein, assistant secretary.
