Kidney from Dead Man Transplanted to Sick Woman in Haifa Hospital

A Haifa hospital director reported today the successful transplant of a kidney from a man who had just died to a 37-year-old woman whose kidneys had ceased to function and who was in critical condition.

Moshe Lazar, director of the hospital, said that the woman’s condition was “fairly good” ten days after the transplant. The woman, who is married and a mother, has been suffering from chronic kidney inflammation. The names of the man and the woman were not disclosed.
