The third meeting in the Israeli-West German economic negotiations, which began last Wednesday, were held in the Foreign Office here today. The meeting lasted for only 90 minutes, and no announcement was made on the contents of the talk.

Previously, a West German spokesman had indicated that the first phase of the talks, which were to be completed this week is being devoted to a general discussion. The negotiations are in fulfilment of a West German pledge made last spring, during talks which led to West German recognition of Israel, to consider economic aid to Israel.

Chancellor Ludwig Erhard has predicted that the talks would be successful, and has also described them as being conducted in a “good atmosphere. ” He indicated that he still planned to meet with Israeli Premier Levi Eshkol, but not until the negotiations were completed. The culmination of the talks is not expected until next Summer.
