The Museum in the East German town of Stutthof, which was the site of a notorious concentration camp during the Nazi era, has been opened to the public, it was reported here today. The museum had been put under supervision of the East German Ministry of Culture.

The Stutthof camp housed 120,000 prisoners of 17 nationalities of whom 85,000, very many of them Jews, were murdered. Many thousands died after the camp was liberated because they were too weak to be brought back to health. The museum contains lists of the inmates, documents and a number of exhibits connected with life and death in the camp. The East German Government worked with many countries in assembling the material for the museum.
