The second phase of the Israeli-West German negotiations on Bonn’s economic aid to Israel began today and were adjourned with no communique on their content. The talks will be continued tomorrow.

Asher Ben-Nathan, Israel’s first Ambassador to West Germany, again headed the Israeli delegation. Rolf Lahr, State Secretary in the West German Government, again headed the Bonn negotiators. The goal of the talks is to implement a West German pledge to provide such aid which was made during the negotiations which led to West German recognition of Israel last year, Israel claims.
