Czech Film, Israel Tv Program Honored by Jewish Education Unit

A Czechoslovak film on Czech life under the Nazis and a TV documentary on the struggle of the Jewish people for a homeland in Israel were honored today at the 16th annual Awards Luncheon of the National Council on Jewish Audio-Visual Materials here.

The awards for film achievement were given to “The Shop on Main Street,” the film starring Ida Kaminsky which won an Oscar this year, and to “Let My People Go, ” the television film produced and written by Marshall Flaum and sponsored by the Xerox Corporation.

Producer Julian Bryan was cited for his 16mm film, “Israel.” Eiman Brown, producer of films and documentaries, was honored, as were the Commission on Jewish Education of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the Los Angeles Bureau of Jewish Education.
