Israel and Brazil signed here today an agreement for cooperation in the field of nuclear research for peaceful purposes. Ambassador Joseph Nahmias signed the pact for Israel, while Gen. Juraci Magalhaes, Brazil’s Foreign Minister, signed for Brazil. The agreement provides for the mutual exchange of information, scientists and technicians in the field of the use of atomic energy for peace.
At the ceremonies attendant upon the signing of the pact, Gen. Juraci Magalhaes said: “The friendliest relations have existed for years between Brazil and Israel. We are already indebted to Israel for its fruitful cooperation. Since 1962, Israel has been aiding us in the development of the northeastern provinces, helping us through Israel’s technical assistance and know-how.”
