An Israeli youth orchestra became the permanent owner today of the “golden lyre,” a prize offered by Queen Juliana of The Netherlands to the musical aggregation that has won the title of “general winner” three successive times. The award resulted from the fifth World Music Concourse, completed last night at Kerkrade, Holland.

The winner was the National Youth Orchestra, Gadna, of Tel Aviv. The Gadna group was pronounced general winner of the concourse, an event held every four years. Today, the Tel Aviv group was declared the permanent owner of the coveted “golden lyre” because it had won the quadrennial competition for the third successive time.
