A new $3,500,000 residence for student nurses was dedicated here yesterday by the Beth Israel Medical Center. The 12-story building, which provides accommodation for 300 student nurses, was named Fierman Hall in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Fierman, New York philanthropists, who contributed $1,000,000 for the construction of the new facility.
Among the dignitaries taking part in the dedication ceremonies were Senator Jacob K. Javits, New York Republican; Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., Liberal candidate for governor; State Attorney General Louiss J. Lefkowitz; State Controller Arthur Levitt; Deputy Mayor Timothy Costello; and Charles H. Silver, president of the Medical Center.
Besides living quarters for the students in Beth Israel’s School of Nursing, the new building has a dining room, recreation areas, sun decks, music rooms and reception rooms for the students to entertain guests.
