10,000 Jews Celebrate ‘simorat Torah’ Publicly in Street in Moscow

More than 10,000 Jews jammed the street in front of the Moscow Central Synagogue this weekend, dancing and singing in observance of Simchat Torah, the joyous festival marking the conclusion of the holiday season, it was reported here today from the Soviet capital. The crowd, mostly young Jews, was larger and seemed more carefree than in previous years, the report said.
