The Israeli Communist Party dissociated itself today from the Soviet Union’s attitude in the current Israeli-Syria conflict, and charged that Nikolai T. Federenko, the Soviet permanent representative at the United Nations, had “overlooked” facts concerning the situation. The Soviet spokesman has assailed Israel in favor of Syria since the Security Council starting debating Israel’s current grievance against Syria.
An article in Kol Haam, the official newspaper of the Israel Communist party, asserted that Mr. Federenko had “overlooked the terror” which El Fatah guerillas had waged along the Israel border, Kol Haam said also that the Communist Party could not ignore the danger to Israel’s sovereign existence stemming from such raids, but added a warning to Israel not to be pushed into retaliatory military actions.
