Shimon Feres, former Deputy Defense Minister and now secretary of former Premier David Ben-Gurion’s dissident Israel Workers Party (Rafi), assailed today the Israel Government’s decision to place its complaint against Syrian based guerrilla incursions before the United Nations Security Council.
Speaking at a press conference, he asserted that the approach to the U. N. had aroused anti-Israel factors and that it gave the Soviet Union another chance to win Arab hearts. He insisted the issue was not a case of the alternatives of only the U. N. or war, arguing that Israel had the right to use its own discretion on issues of self defense. He said regretfully that there had been a “cooling down in Israeli French relations.
