Bjoern Lundahl, leader of a Swedish neo-Nazi group, was reported today to have reached a settlement with the Stockholm Expressen, the newspaper which exposed him and his followers in 1965, and agreed not to sue the paper. The suit would have been based on a court ruling acquitting him on a charge of participating in the activities of an illegal organization.
Lundahl confirmed he had received a substantial sum from the newspaper, reportedly 60,000 kroner ($12,000). The court fined him 300 kroner ($60) for illegal possession of weapons but acquitted him of the other charge on grounds that the written evidence was not convincing.
Lundahl said he intended to appeal the $60 fine and also to sue officials for the time he was detained. He said he also would sue three Swedish publications for their charges against him in connection with the case.
