Horace W. Goldsmith, New York philanthropist, announced last night that he would donate $250,000 for the Microbiology Center established two months ago on the campus of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology at Haifa.
Addressing nearly 400 guests at the annual dinner of the American Technion Society at the Hotel Americana last night, he emphasized that “microbiological research programs now underway and those still in the planning stages” at the Technion “may well find some of the answers to the world’s desperate problem of inadequate food supplies.” Other speakers included Dr. Abram L. Sachar, president of Brandeis University, and Maurice M. Rosen, of Philadelphia, president of the society.
