The founding conference of Oded, the movement of Jewish students who emigrated from North Africa, began here last night with more than 100 delegates from Israel and France attending. There are about 5,000 such students, many of whom are attending universities in France.

The movement is sponsored by the Jewish Agency’s Youth and Hechalutz Department. Its director, Eliahu Dobkin, expressed the hope that Oded would encourage many of the students in France to settle in Israel. Oded members are being helped by the department. Many of them expressed their gratitude for such help in their speeches at the conference.
